A Systems Approach

One of the challenges of traditional first aid training is ‘skills fade’. Most people attend a first aid course once every three years and, if lucky, they will rarely, if ever, have to apply the skills they have learned. It is no surprise then, that in the heat of a crisis, they might struggle to recall what they have learned when it matters most.

At Clarion, we have taken a leaf from the book of aviators, special forces and other high-pressure operators by teaching a ‘systems’ approach with on-hand checklists and easily applied frameworks which guide learners step by step through the process:

Step 1 - Pause & Perceive: Incident Management

Step 2 - Prepare & Protect: Casualty Assessment

Step 3 - Preserve Life: Casualty Treatment

Step 4 - Prevent Worsening: Infection Control

Step 5 - Pass On: Reporting & Handover

Leading by Example

At the heart of Clarion First Aid is a passion for high-quality, practical training. Our Chief Instructor, Andy Fisher, brings three decades of professional experience in instructing adults across a diverse range of disciplines.

His background isn't limited to the classroom; Andy has years of experience delivering training in high-stakes areas, including land-based survival, conflict management, and first aid. He understands how to teach people to stay calm, focused, and effective when it matters most.

Andy doesn't just teach first aid; he practices what he preaches. Committed to maintaining his own professional currency and serving his local community, Andy is currently in the process of volunteering as a Community First Responder (CFR) in Norfolk.

This first hand involvement in emergency response ensures that the techniques taught at Clarion are not only compliant with the latest guidelines but are also informed by the real-world realities of patient care in rural communities.
